Aleppo Bahebek
Aleppo bahebel means “Aleppo, I love you” in Arabic and is a tribute to the food culture, the once-beautiful city, and the people who come from there. Here, authentic Syrian street food is served, prepared by chefs from the culinary capital of the Middle East. In close collaboration with several local farms, the food is organic: the chicken comes from Hovelsrud Farm, and the vegetables are from Bergsmyrene, Ruud, and Ramme Farm. Aleppo Bahebel was founded by Mestringsguiden, an organization dedicated to helping refugees regain their independence. In 2023, Zaghmout, which has been part of the food market for several years, took over operations under the company Alsafsaf AS.
Mention that Zag works in the food industry because of his father, and that his father is a well-known figure at Vippa. That he walks in smiling and always says, “Hello, how are you? Not good—not bad,” and laughs his hearty laugh. And that Zag works with his brothers, and there’s always a good joke waiting in the wings. Zag, Abdel, and Spyros in particular treat Vippa like their home and the team like their family.
